HISTORY: the Club became an official affiliated club in 2008 and we now have over 100 members whose ages range from 18 years to 70+. We are affiliated to England Athletics and our members can receive discounts on many race entry fees, as well as other benefits from England Athletics.
ETHOS: we aim to provide a safe running environment for women of all ages, size and ability giving them the opportunity to run together to improve their health, fitness and confidence. The Number One Rule – no-one must be left to run on their own – please follow this link for full details.
ORGANISATION: the club has a small committee open to every club member, with elections held at our AGM. We have also a qualified coach (Level 2 Coach in Running Fitness) and a number of qualified run leaders (Level 1 Leadership in Running Fitness).
In "covid-times":
All activities at the club are being delivered in accordance with our covid-19 risk assessment and action plan. Please read the post on our news page for details about how this is affecting club runs and membership arrangements. If you want to join us, please do get in touch once you have read it.
In "normal times":
APPROACH: our regular runners co-ordinate routes, training plans and running schedules. At club runs, groups of 4 to 20 runners will each follow a similar route for that evening accompanied by at least one qualified run leader per group. At particular times of the year, we may follow a set training plan e.g. marathon training, training for the Potters 'Arf (our local half marathon) etc. We ask club members to contribute to club runs by suggesting routes, helping to ensure all runners are organised into groups and ensuring no-one is ever left behind.
NEW MEMBERS: if you are already running regularly and would like to join us, please come along to the Brindley Building at the Staffordshire University Campus on Leek Road on either Tuesday or Thursday evening, arriving by about 6.15pm. You are welcome to run with us on a trial basis for up to two weeks before deciding whether to join the club. You will be asked to sign a disclaimer before running with us on a trial basis. Once you decide to join, you will be asked to complete an application form and an emergency contact form. Memberships are renewed annually. Please get in touch via our contact form if you would like more information or to let us know when you are coming. Click here to find out more about what to expect and how to prepare.
BEGINNERS: we regularly run a 10 week beginners course aimed at ladies who have never run before or not run for a long time. The only requirement for joining the course is that you are able to walk for 30 minutes without stopping and have the desire and commitment to complete the course. Click here to find out more about what to expect and how to prepare. Still unsure... check out some of the inspiring stories on our blog, including a new from Ali who completed our beginners course, or come along for a chat on a club night, especially if you've already done some running.

"I never thought I could be a runner. Now I run 3 times a week and 'feel' like a runner. I can run 10 miles and feel fantastic afterwards."
