From Tuesday 28th April, the club will have a new home at Staffordshire University's Leek Road Campus. We'll be meeting in the foyer of the Brindley Building from 6pm every Tuesday and Thursday, as well as continuing to organise weekend runs and take part in local races. We're very grateful to the University for this opportunity. Our new home at the University will provide us with a space to meet before and after our runs, with access to refreshments and a safe place for post-run stretches. There are lots of new routes accessible to us from the University Campus, including easy access to the Caldon Canal, the Trent and Mersey Canal, Hanley Park and hilly challenges up Honeywall and Hartshill Road. Longer runs can take us to Stoke, Longton, Hanley and Newcastle - linking up with the routes of the Potters 'Arf and Potteries Marathon to help those training for these events to get some extra practice. There are also options for 2, 3 and 4 mile loops for those who prefer them. We also hope to organise a new beginners course in conjunction with the University once we've settled in to our new home. There is plenty of parking available at the University in the evening - please follow the campus speed limits and consider car sharing if possible. There are barriers in place as you enter the university grounds; please press the buzzer and just let the operator know you are attending the running club. We have permission to park. We'd also like to thank everyone at Trent Country Club for their support to the club over the last few years in hosting our runners on club nights and providing refreshments for special events. Many of our members took their first steps as runners from the Trent car park and we all have fond memories of running from there. I will particularly miss those Christmas runs around the Abbey. But from Tuesday, we're got new routes to discover. See you at the Uni! |
